Google Will No Longer Scan Messages Of Students Using It?S Apps

In a recent blog post, Bram Bout, Google’s director of global education sales, stated, “ We’ve permanently removed all ads scanning in Gmail for Apps for Education, which means Google cannot collect or use student data in Apps for Education services for advertising purposes.”

In doing do, Bram hopes to advance Google’s goal to “enhance the educational experience for Apps for education customers.”

Despite this, Google will continue scanning content in emails to deliver ads in other realms of their Google world unrelated to education. It should also be noted that officials at Google claim to scan email content for security purposes (not just to cater relevant ads).

Microsoft does not compete with this ad scanning practice, and many people prefer outlook for that reason.
